Terms of Use

1. Who we are

You can reach a person at the address below.

This is also our point of contact under Articles 11 and 12 of the Digital Services Act, for users and for authorities alike. We answer in Lithuanian and in English.

2. What Getaway is

Getaway is a navigation and place-finding app for motorhomes and campervans, covering the countries shown in the app. It routes a vehicle of a given height, width, length and weight, and it shows places to stop — with details contributed partly by us, partly from OpenStreetMap, and partly by other travellers.

3. Using it safely — please read this one

Getaway plans routes from map data and from the vehicle dimensions you enter. Both can be wrong. Map data can be out of date, a barrier can be new, a bridge can be signed lower than the map says, and a figure you typed can have a digit missing.

A route from this app is a suggestion, not a guarantee that your vehicle fits. You are driving. Road signs, physical clearances, weight limits and local restrictions are what decide whether you can pass, and they override anything on the screen. Please check them, and please do not operate the app while driving.

4. Your account

You can browse, search and navigate without an account. Contributing — adding a place, uploading a photograph, answering a question about somewhere — uses Sign in with Apple.

You must be at least the minimum age in your country to have an account:

You can delete your account from inside the app, under You → Account. Deleting it removes your account and signs you out everywhere. Places and photographs you contributed stay in the app, without your name attached — other travellers are relying on them, and they were published as facts about a place rather than as posts by a person.

5. What you may contribute, and what you may not

There is no tolerance here for objectionable content or for abusive users.

Do not upload, submit or post:

• sexual or pornographic content of any kind;
• anything sexual involving a minor — this is reported to the authorities, not merely removed;
• violent, gory or shocking imagery;
• content that attacks, degrades or harasses people, or that incites hatred or violence;
• threats, bullying, stalking, or attempts to identify or track a particular person;
• photographs of an identifiable person who has not agreed to appear in the app;
• anyone else's photographs, text or other work, unless you hold the rights or the licence permits it;
• other people's personal data — names on documents, number plates, house numbers;
• advertising, spam, or deliberately false information about a place;
• anything illegal under Lithuanian or European Union law.

Please also keep contributions about places, not about people, and do not upload a photograph taken somewhere you were not allowed to be.

6. Your photographs stay yours

You keep the copyright in everything you contribute. By submitting a photograph you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store it, resize it and show it inside Getaway and on our own pages, for as long as it is published there. We do not sell it, and we do not license it on to anyone else.

By submitting one you confirm that you took it or are otherwise entitled to use it, and that anyone recognisable in it is content to appear.

Facts about a place — that it exists, where it is, whether it has water — are not copyrightable and may be contributed back to OpenStreetMap, whose data is published under the Open Database Licence. Your photographs are not.

7. How we moderate

Text you submit — a place name, a note, an answer typed in — is checked automatically the moment you send it. If that check is confident the text is objectionable, the submission is refused there and then, by software, with no person involved. If it is unsure, the text is accepted and flagged for a person to look at.

Photographs are checked automatically. One the check passes is published at once; one it flags waits until a person has approved it.

Reports from users are read by a person, except that a photograph two people report as not of the place or of poor quality is removed without one.

If the automatic check fails — a timeout, an outage — the result is always "a person looks at it", never "this is fine".

We may also remove content, refuse a contribution or stop someone contributing where that is needed to keep the app usable and lawful.

8. Reporting something

Every photograph in the app has a report control on it. Tapping it tells us straight away; the app confirms that we have it.

For anything else — content that is illegal rather than merely unpleasant, a copyright claim, a photograph of you that you want taken down — write to support@camp4life.app. Please tell us where the content is, what is wrong with it, why you believe it is unlawful if that is the claim, and how to reach you. We confirm receipt, we look at it, and we tell you what we decided and why.

We aim to act on reports of objectionable content within 24 hours, by removing the content and stopping the person who posted it from contributing again.

9. When we act, and how to argue with it

If we remove something of yours, refuse a contribution, or stop you contributing, the app tells you what we decided and why, if you are signed in.

If you disagree, you can complain to the regulator (RRT) or a court.

10. Paid features

Some features need a paid Getaway+ subscription, sold through the App Store on the terms Apple shows when you buy. Apple takes the payment and handles cancellation, refunds and your right of withdrawal. A subscription renews automatically until you cancel it in your Apple ID settings.

Your contributions are not affected by whether you pay. They stay in the app, and they stay yours.

11. Stopping

You can stop using Getaway whenever you like, and delete your account from inside the app.

We may suspend or end your access if you break section 5, or if we have to stop running the service.

12. Liability, and the law that applies

Getaway is provided as it is. We cannot promise the map is complete, that a place is open, that a route is passable, or that the app is available without interruption.

We are liable for damage we cause intentionally or through gross negligence, and for anything the law does not let us exclude — including death or personal injury caused by our negligence. Beyond that, we are not liable for loss arising from relying on the app's data, for a journey that went wrong, or for content someone else contributed.

Lithuanian law applies, and the Lithuanian courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not remove the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in, or your right to bring a claim there.

13. Changes to these terms

We will change these terms when the app changes. If a change matters to you — a new restriction, a new charge, a change to how we moderate — we will tell you before it takes effect. The date at the top is always the date of the current version.
